Vernon and Area

The Okanagan Valley in beautiful British Columbia is a favorite destination for some very good reasons.

Vernon is located at the northern tip of the valley surrounded by three freshwater lakes. Lakes Okanagan, Kalamalka and Swan provide residents and visitors with breathtaking scenery and numerous water based activities. Kalamalka Lake has a beautiful rare hue of turquoise year round and Ogopogo is rumored to reside in the waters of Lake Okanagan. Become a member of the Vernon Yacht Club or simply enjoy a row or paddle on the serene Swan Lake all summer long.

The City of Vernon provides a warm, friendly small town feel with seasonal activities such as the Funtastic Ball Tournament under the blazing July skies and Winter Carnival in the latter days of the Winter Solstice. Watch the hot air balloons light up the sky at this annual event.

Ten golf courses are nearby for the novice or advanced golfer. There are seven Wineries surrounding Vernon and neighboring Orchardists such as Davison Orchards provide a taste of their labors. Visit the Historic O'Keefe Ranch, the Allen Brooks Nature Centre or Paddlewheel Park and take a hike to Rattlesnake Point...it's all here waiting for you!

Sport Enthusiasts can enjoy exciting hockey with the Vernon Viper's of the BCHL Hockey League. A short walk from Beachwalk Villas brings you to Marshall Fields, home to both indoor and outdoor soccer (NOYSA).

In the winter enjoy the pleasures of Silver Star Mountain Resort and Sovereign Lake Nordic Ski Trails. Whether you like to ski, snowboard, skate, or simply Après Ski, it's all just a short drive from the centre of Vernon.

School District 23 in Vernon provides quality elementary and secondary education to the community. The Vernon campus of Okanagan University College overlooks beautiful Kalamalka Lake. While Vernon boasts a Regional Airport, Kelowna International Airport is just a short 25 minute drive through scenic highways.
